Kaylee Fitzsimmons '28

Biography

Kaylee Fitzsimmons ‘28 is from Durham, North Carolina, majoring in American Studies with minors in Foundations of Business and Poverty Studies. She is a Poverty Research Fellow at Notre Dame’s Lab for Economic Opportunity, where she works to find research-based solutions to the problems of poverty facing the United States today. Her research and focus of study centers around using education as a force for economic growth, which inspired her to work as an Americorps member, where she helped equip low-income students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed academically. She also worked as a Site Assistant for the National Student Leadership Conference at Yale University, which works to enkindle a passion for higher education in high school students.

Kaylee has spent nine years serving at a soup kitchen called St. Francis Inn, where she recently interned as the head of marketing and promotion and led a $12,000 fundraising campaign. Her successful marketing experience at St. Francis Inn has prompted her to add a business minor in hopes of using business as a force for good for the poor. She now works as a customer support specialist at Verso Ministries, where she has gained new business skills such as addressing consumer concerns, negotiating contracts, and utilizing technical tools, including Excel and HubSpot.

Kaylee’s commitment to utilizing business for social impact has inspired her to pursue a career in corporate social responsibility, where she hopes to use her background in social justice and business to create positive socioeconomic change.
