Rodrigo Souza '28

Biography

Rodrigo Souza ’28 majors in Political Science with minors in Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Business & Economic History. Rodrigo is Brazilian, British, and Portuguese and has a broad range of interests, including international trade, security studies, tax policy, equity analysis, energy security, policy analysis, and the intersection of business and politics. He has previously interned at the Brazilian non-profit RenovaBR, where he researched how Congress allocates funding to projects in the national budget and examined transparency issues in that process. Rodrigo has also interned at a public equity investment firm, where he provided in-depth analysis of companies such as General Electric, Liberty Media, and Ryanair. In addition, he has conducted research on the causes of the War of the Triple Alliance (Paraguayan War), on tax reform in Brazil, and political polarization in America. He has also taken summer courses on international relations and trade policy in the UK.

Rodrigo has been part of student-run groups such as the Student Policy Network, where he contributed to a group dossier submitted to the Department of State on human rights violations in Nicaragua. He is also a member of the speech & debate team, where he has competed in multiple tournaments. Rodrigo has experience in leadership roles; he was student body president and captain of the varsity soccer team in high school. He is fluent in English and Portuguese and has lived in three different countries.
