Sarah Burton ‘27

Biography

Sarah Burton ‘27 is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Business Economics and Constitutional Studies. On campus, she holds leadership roles within Student Government and the Student Policy Network (SPN). Through SPN, she has contributed to a number of projects, including the Criminal Justice Reform committee and the South Bend Education Policy committee. She is currently a co-lead for the Indiana Environmental Policy Committee, where she leads a team researching the impact of data center developments in the local area. Her participation in such pursuits is fitting as she hopes to pursue a career in law and is currently exploring as many legal and policy issues as she can as opportunities for discernment. Beyond her involvement in student organizations, Burton currently works as an Intern for the Office of the President and as a Research Assistant within the Kellogg Developing Researchers Program, supporting numerous faculty-led projects in these positions.

Originally from Orange County, California, she has returned home the past two summers to work as a legal intern for Wesierski & Zurek, a civil defense firm that specializes in employment, insurance, and business litigation. In this role, she has gained firsthand experience in trial and deposition preparation. While she maintains an open mind for the type of law she wants to practice, she is grateful for her time at Wesierski & Zurek, as it cultivated her interest in exploring business and employment law. She is thankful for the opportunities that the Sheedy Family Program presents to grow the intersection of her passions for law and business.
