Apply
The Sheedy Family Program is a highly selective, cohort-based academic program for undergraduate students with majors in Arts and Letters and substantive interests in business. Students admitted into the program gain access to courses, programming, and resources designed to enhance their intellectual, personal, and professional development all at once. Students who apply should understand the full extent of the opportunity and commitment.
Eligibility
Updated AY26-27 for the Spring 2027 application cycle
To be eligible for the Sheedy Family Program, students must:
- Be a rising first-year, sophomore, or junior undergraduate student at the University of Notre Dame
- Have a major or majors in the College of Arts and Letters (with at least one A&L major maintained throughout their time in the program)
- Have a substantive interest in business
- Take "Business in Context," the Sheedy gateway course, during their first (fall) semester in the Sheedy Family Program. Studying abroad is NOT an exception to this policy. This means students who wish to apply during the winter/spring application cycle but will be studying abroad during the subsequent fall semester are ineligible to apply. The course is offered M-W from 9:30-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Timeline
The annual application cycle for rising sophomores and juniors begins on the first day of the spring semester (mid-January) and remains open for one month. Admissions decisions are communicated starting in early March.
The application cycle for incoming students (rising first-years) takes place in May, with admission decisions communicated in early to mid June.
Learn More
Current ND students who wish to apply to Sheedy have many opportunities to learn more about the program during the January/February application cycle. They include office hours with the SFP faculty leadership team, office hours with current Sheedy students, a panel discussion with current Sheedys, and tabling events in Duncan. A full schedule of events will be posted here at the beginning of January.
Applicants are highly encouraged to take advantage of one or more of these opportunities to discern their fit for the program, demonstrate their seriousness as an applicant, and learn about the program's goals.
Note that, due to the volume of requests, the SFP faculty cannot accommodate one-on-one meetings with applicants outside of the designated Sheedy office hours, nor answer questions via email that are already answered on the website or require in-depth responses.
Incoming ND students (rising first years) can learn about the program via the SFP website, email communication from the College of Arts and Letters and ND Admissions Office, and virtual informational sessions to be communicated in May.
