Biography

Charlotte Schuele ‘28 is an Economics major at the University of Notre Dame, originally from Freiburg, Germany. She is pursuing a concentration in Financial Economics and Econometrics with minors in the Glynn Family Honors Program and French. Through her admission to the selective Notre Dame Washington Program, Charlotte interned at the House Committee on Ways and Means and gained insight into the process of developing and implementing policy measures, learning how evidence-based policy research influences decision-making in the United States. Following her time on the Hill, Charlotte continues exposing herself to legislative issues through her Democracy Fellowship as part of the Notre Dame Democracy Initiative. Translating policy into financial practice, she interned in BDO’s Audit & Assurance practice in summer ‘26, examining how financial reporting aligns with regulatory frameworks like the SEC and PCAOB by analyzing financial statements.

On campus, Charlotte is a member of the Federal Reserve and Fiscal Challenge Club, where she applies her economic knowledge and research skills to propose evidence-based policies in competitions like the Fiscal Challenge. Her keen interest in macroeconomics allowed Charlotte to connect with policymakers and the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank through a research initiative with the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame and discuss how econometric tools can best be used to address issues of global significance. Besides her academic club engagements, Charlotte serves her dormitory, Flaherty Hall, as the Chair of the Social Committee, where she plans and executes activities to bring the community closer together. Looking forward, Charlotte hopes to pursue a career at the intersection of rigorous research, financial analysis, and client collaboration where she can continue following her interests in economics and finance.
