Biography
Claire Hastings ’29 is an Economics major with minors in Chinese and Actuarial Science, originally from Jacksonville, Florida. She is currently interested in pursuing a career that will allow her to cultivate her passion for both social and quantitative skills, whether that be in policy, finance, consulting, or law.
After being invited to join the pilot program for Notre Dame’s Poverty Alleviation Concentration, Claire discovered her love for public policy. In DC, she got firsthand experience of how policymakers, think tanks, and federal employees seek to address poverty. Claire spent her summer working with Notre Dame’s Consulting Connect program, where she gained real-world consulting experience with case studies.
Claire further enjoys serving her community both at home and on campus. At home, she frequently spends her time with L’Arche Jacksonville, caring for and working with adults with developmental disabilities. Her time with them has not only been rewarding for the soul but has also taught her valuable life lessons. On campus, she is a tutor for the Robinson Community Learning Center in South Bend. Every week, she spends hours aiding children with their math and reading skills. Claire hopes to continue her involvement in her communities, both at Notre Dame and beyond.
