Biography

Grace von Schack ‘29 is a double major in Economics and Philosophy with a minor in Foundations of Business. She is originally from Carmel, California and Brunswick, Maine.

On campus, in addition to the Sheedy Family Program, Grace is involved with the Student International Business Council (SIBC) and the Notre Dame Women in Economics Club. Grace serves as a co-commissioner for Pasquerilla West Hall’s Big/Little program, leading peer mentoring programs for 150+ participants.

Service is a key value for Grace. Growing on her love of storytelling, history, and big questions, she is the founder of Project My Story, a service program that partners a youth volunteer with a senior adult to create a legacy document that captures life experiences, reflections, and words of wisdom (projectmystory.org).

This past summer, Grace explored the world of insurance with internships in London (Lloyd’s of London/AEGIS Insurance) and in New York City (Guy Carpenter/Marsh Reinsurance). Grace enjoyed exposure to all aspects of the business, but was particularly taken with the importance of relationships and trust in an industry based on finance and risk.

Grace is passionate about learning the broader picture of economic systems, but also the human issues of philosophy, including our purpose and how we can best contribute to the collective good. Her interests lie at the heart of problem-solving, collaboration, creativity, and building relationships. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue a career in business or law.
