Application

Eligibility

The annual application cycle begins on the first day of the spring semester (mid-January) and remains open for one month.

We accept applications from rising sophomores and rising juniors (current freshmen and sophomores). To be eligible, students must have a major or minor in the College of Arts and Letters and a major or minor in business, typically in the Mendoza College of Business. (Students may also fulfill the business requirement with a major or minor in economics or a minor in “Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” provided they have an additional major or minor in A&L.)

Students admitted into the program must take "Business in Context," the Sheedy gateway course, during their first (fall) semester in the Sheedy Family Program. Studying abroad is not an exception to this policy. Students who wish to apply during the January/February application cycle but will be studying abroad during the subsequent fall semester are ineligible to apply.

We will communicate admissions decisions on a rolling basis, starting in early March.

Students who wish to apply to Sheedy have many opportunities to learn more about the program during the application cycle. They include office hours with the SFP directors, office hours with current Sheedy students, a panel discussion with current Sheedys, and tabling events in Duncan. A full schedule of events will be posted here at the beginning of January.

We highly encourage applicants to take advantage of these opportunities. We'd love to meet you and help you discern whether Sheedy might be a good fit for you. From a professionalization standpoint, meeting with the SFP directors and/or current Sheedy students can also help you demonstrate your seriousness about the program and learn about its goals. That, in turn, can make your application stronger. (Note that quality, not quantity, of interaction is key... You should choose one or two opportunities that interest you.) 

Although meeting in person is always our preference, you can also email specific questions about the program or your application to anyone on the faculty leadership team. Any of our students are also happy to share their experiences and help you discern whether applying to Sheedy might make sense for you. (Note that, due to the volume of requests, during the application cycle, our faculty team cannot accommodate one-on-one meetings with applicants outside of the designated Sheedy office hours, but we'd love to see you at "Office Hours" and one of our students would be more than happy to meet up individually!)
