Business for Humans

As the Welsh writer Allen Raine once said, “You may get to the very top of the ladder, and then find it has not been leaning against the right wall.”

Business for Humans is designed to help students pick the right ladder from the start.

This course helps students explore classic and contemporary readings in the humanities and social sciences, examine the intersection of a liberal arts education and the business world, and discover how humanistic inquiry shapes and elevates professional life.

At the same time, students gain information, resources, and inspiration to help with their career discernment journeys. A suite of self-assessment tools helps them assess their career aspirations in light of their “thick” desires, their working styles, and their character strengths. They also hear stories from accomplished alumni working across a wide array of fields to learn how career paths and trajectories really work.

Students leave the course with greater confidence as they take their initial steps toward a meaningful job, career, and calling.
